  • This year we have started a new model of Kid's Church - one that looks a lot more like a church service! Kids will participate in singing songs together (with a musician from the adult team), and hear a Bible story that's related to the Adult Service, though a narrated story, drama or video. They then get into smaller groups to talk about what they are learning and maybe do some crafts. It's fun times all around!
  • If you are interested in getting involved with teaching or helping out in Kid's Church - you're needed! Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

You should see his white truck on the drive way, but there is always the chance that he could get held up at work (his parents will welcome you in if he's not there). If you're allergic to dogs, they'll block off Laddie from the kitchen so that there won't be contact.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to text Cody (587)-784-4315, or message him on Facebook.

  • Food Theme:
Discussion theme: "If people are created in God's Image, does that include all our physical characteristics? For example, in the human eye there is a blind spot where the optic nerve connects to the eye. Does God have a blind spot? Why would we be created with this flaw?" Consider what we know of God's nature - what part of that nature is present in us?

Also, we want to take some time to catch up on how people are doing, since we've spent the last few weeks on "heady" issues.
  • If you have some other questions, doubts, or that kind of thing, please make sure you get them to either Andrew or Ariana.

CHURCH FAMILY PHOTOS

Something exciting is coming your way… we are going to do some family pictures for our church! This is dual purpose:
1) for a new Church Photo Directory (which is very overdue), and
2) we are making a Church Family Photo Wall!

Let me tell you a little bit more about this second one. We believe that our Church really is one big Family, and hope you feel the same. As such, we feel it is important to show that in a tangible way, such as with pictures. Just think – in your house you have pictures of your family, right? Well, this is our Family’s ‘house’ and we want to show off who is living here and is important to us – you! I think of that verse from John 17:20–23 20:
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
The plan is to have a whole wall dedicated to this in the Foyer – with a picture of each family in the church. Another reason for wanting to do this is that we want to get to know you more! To do that, sometimes we need to be able to recognize you and put names to faces.

Wouter Broersma has agreed to have a setup, complete with background and lights, to shoot these pictures for us for freehere at the church. He will do several different photos, and you can choose which photograph will appear in the directory and on the wall – it’s as simple as that! Another bonus is that we will give you one free 5x7 shot of your family.

We would love to book you and your family in for a session with Wouter. We will be doing three Saturdays – March 3rd, 10th, and 17th – from 9AM to 3PM here at the church. Please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it know as soon as you can what time(s) you are available. If Saturdays do not work for your family, we will have a few slots available Sunday after church on the 4th, 11th and 18th. The sooner you let me know, the  easier it will be to find a time that works for everyone! A session will be about 20 minutes in length.

We would love to see every single family in our Church participating in this! What a great way to come together as a family and celebrate the brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers God has blessed us with.

Voice of the Martyrs Weekly Prayer Focus:

Each week we will provide you with specific prayer requests from the News Updates on the V.O.M. website.

"In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us."
Romans 8:37 (NASB)

Bible college bombed in Sudan
(Source: Samaritan's Purse)
A Bible school supported by Samaritan's Purse was destroyed on February 1 in the latest bombing raid to hit South Kordofan, a Sudanese province that borders the newly created independent country of South Sudan (more on South Sudan). Eight bombs were dropped in the area of Heiban Bible College during the school's first day of classes. According to eyewitness accounts, the bombing required a sustained effort with at least four flyover passes.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. "We have been working for years in Sudan," Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham said after the attack. "Today our Bible school in Heiban in the Nuba Mountains was bombed by the Sudanese Air Force. No one was killed or hurt, but buildings were destroyed. Please pray for the safety of believers, and that God would intervene." Since early August, at least four churches built by Samaritan's Purse have been destroyed by bombing or burning.

Thank the Lord no one was injured or killed. Pray the Lord will strengthen the faith of the students and other believers after this attack and ask Him to provide for them. Pray the Holy Spirit will bring new life and faith to the people around the Nuba Mountains. Pray for those behind these attacks.

Attack sparks revival in Nigeria
(Source: The Voice of the Martyrs)
Increasing violence in Nigeria has only strengthened local Christians' faith, even sparking a revival at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Gombe, where nine Christians were martyred in a January 5 attack (more information).

During a funeral service on January 19 for those killed, many believers rededicated their lives to Christ, and others came to faith in Christ for the first time. Weeping and singing while on their knees, a choir led about 500 attendees and 50 pastors in worship. The martyrs' relatives and other dignitaries -- including the deputy governor speaking on behalf of the state's governor -- spoke about each murdered Christian. The four-hour service then moved on to intercessory prayer for the Church in Nigeria, the nation at large, Muslims in Nigeria, and the Muslim extremist group Boko Haram.

"The leader of the prayers based most of the prayers from the book of Isaiah 61:1–4, among other scriptures, which strengthen and encourage the Church. He encouraged the Church to be more prayerful than complaining," said a VOM worker. "He said the Lord knows how to fight His own battle in His own way, and we should not revenge whatsoever."

Pray that the Lord will continue to comfort and provide for those mourning. Pray that He will sustain the faith of believers in Nigeria during these difficult trials. Pray that Christians in Nigeria will receive a crown of beauty, the oil of joy and the garment of praise from the Lord (Isaiah 61:3).

PRAYER AND CARE:

If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?" James 2:16

As we hold one another in prayer, ask God to open your heart to see and know where you can extend yourself for Him.  Perhaps sending a note of encouragement, delivering a meal, making a surprise visit for coffee, offering a few hours of child care to a single parent, or simply a warm embrace. How can you be God's arms of love this week?

  • Parents who are faced with parenting issues.
  • Marriages and relationships.
  • Josiah Dyckerhoff as he is in Chile with YWAM; prayer for overcoming language barriers, building strong relationships and community within the team, and flexibility and openness to God's direction in all plans, whether or not they go as hoped; for his Outreach to Ecuador (From Dec 18 - March 13).
  • Samantha McQueen as she is in Australia with YWAM doing a Counselling School. Pray for wisdom in leadership and willingness to work in any ministry; that God would be evident to her and she would be open to what He has planned for her. Pray for her Outreach in Cambodia (Starting Feb 13 for a month).
  • Single parents who are working doubly hard to make things run.
  • Young adults, Youth and Kids in the community
  • Our community and neighbours; that we would continue to find new ways to reach out and show God's love
  • Our Local, National and World Leaders.
