Where we came from PDF Print E-mail

Our church family had very humble beginnings. In 1977 it was started as a Sunday School Mission planted by our sister church located in the nearby village of New Sarepta. The congregation grew as the children brought their families and families brought other families. We worshipped in the old Bellevue School first and then in J.E.Lapointe School.

In 1982 we purchased our current plot of land and then a church. Literally, we bought a church. It was originally located in the town of Leduc.  It was hoisted off its foundation, loaded it on a truck and then it began the slow and oversized move to Beaumont. On its way here, the church caught on fire when it picked up some stray voltage from a power pole.  The fire department actually met the moving company on a back country road to put the blaze out.  We needed roof repairs and a new carpet, but there it was, our new church.

Over the years we have had the joy of sharing our lives with many families.  Lots of them have moved on to other communities and churches; some into leadership of other ministries.  We are happy to say that there are still families attending who were here when the whole thing started...

We have been part of this church since 1977 and have been very privileged to see the body of believers grow over the years. Both of us accepted the Lord in 1979 and have seen God work in the lives of many others. It has been very exciting to see the Youth Ministry grow and blossom in the last few years.

Many things in our community have changed, but one thing that remains constant is God's love for this community and its people. We are blessed to be here, to be part of his work, to be some of the 'hands and feet' of Jesus in Beaumont.
