Dear Beaumont Community Church Family,
Can you believe that we’re almost half-way through August? The days are already getting noticeably shorter and by the end of the week the sun will be setting before 9 pm. I’m sure many of you didn’t want to know that little piece of trivia—sorry. But these things are part of the ebb and flow of life whether we recognize it or not. In July Kathy, Beth and I were able to spend some time on Vancouver Island and daily were amazed at the way God moves the massive amount of water in the ocean through tides. He created the ocean to have a tidal ebb and flow which allowed us to walk at least a kilometer out to the ocean on dry land during low tide.
It was an awesome experience that got me thinking about another type of ebb and flow in our lives. This ebb and flow also contains times where we seem to feel full and times where we are dry and sometimes even dead. The question I feel I need to ask you is: How are you and your family doing is your experience and relationship with God this summer? Are we allowing God to fill us or do we feel there’s a long distance between us and God with signs of dryness all around?
I must admit that being out of our building has made this summer unique for me. I feel scattered and disconnected from the church family. I continue to ask the above questions for myself and for our congregation. Has this scattering caused only distance from God and each other or is there a growing hunger to be together and share what God has been doing in your lives. When the Psalmist was scattered he wrote, “These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.” (Ps 42:4 - NIV) He loved being with a throng of people pursuing and thanking God together.
I realize that some of you have been gone for much of the summer. We miss you. I also realize that there are others who are finding it difficult to attend Saturday Night services. We miss you. Many continue to attend and are enjoying weekly Saturday Night worship. I want you to know that whenever you are away you are missed and it is my hope that we will see you again soon. Construction on our building continues to go well, but it can’t be finished soon enough for me. With the Psalmist I desire to lead a procession to the “house of God” with shouts of joy and thanksgiving.
Until that time it is my prayer that you are experiencing God’s power and activity in your lives. I pray that you would hear his longing for you to know him more deeply. I’m hoping that you are trying to stay connected to other BCCer’s and other believers as you seek to reflect God to those around you. If you haven’t been to a service lately, please join us soon—we miss you. I encourage you to make contact with people you may not have seen in a while and get together for fellowship and prayer so that you may be encouraged by the ways God has been working in the lives of others.
Blessings,
Pastor Bruce (780) 929-6444 Beaumont Community Church Reflecting God's Colors...
